Imagine a scene where the end seems inevitable, where the old self is on the brink of fading away. Yet, amidst the shadows of uncertainty, there is a glimmer of hope. This is the narrative I sought to capture in my creation for the GBWC 2023.
The focal point of my creation is the FM Aerial Gundam kit. Rather than completely redesigning it, I aimed to retain its existing aesthetic while playing with proportions and enhancing its overall look. I believe that by doing so, I'm able to capture the essence of the original design while adding my unique twist.
To achieve the desired ascension effect, I meticulously cut plastic strips into cube shapes and assembled them to create the structure that supports the Gundam.
Much like the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly, this build symbolizes the idea of starting anew, of finding hope even when faced with the end and embracing the possibilities of a fresh beginning.
