For Wing Gundam, I made it look old by using model colouring(stain brown, flat black and flat aluminium), also I used the Matt spray to make it look better.
For Wing Gundam Zero, I use Matt spray to make it look less plastic, and I made it stay white so it look like an angel.
The expressions of the old and new Wing Gundam clearly convey what kind of situation you are expressing.
Since the action base is so prominent, you may want to consider ways to make the base less noticeable.
